Finally, Intro to Reggaeton traces the genre’s musical evolution, from Caribbean roots to global impact, highlighting its connections to race, politics, and identity.
This course offers an interdisciplinary introduction to reggaeton, one of the most influential cultural and musical movements of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Through the lenses of ethnomusicology, politics, and history, students will explore the genre’s Caribbean and Afro-diasporic roots, its sonic innovations, and its rise as a global phenomenon.
